FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain were among the clubs linked to Marcus Rashford, who left Manchester United to join Aston Villa on loan.

Ben Jacobs of Give Me Sport reported last month that while Paris Saint-Germain hasn’t actively pursued Marcus Rashford recently, the club’s sporting advisor, Luis Campos, is keeping a close eye on the situation.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has previously contacted Rashford’s representatives, but any future discussions would likely depend on the player’s interest in a move to Paris. The club’s cautious stance comes after Rashford signed a five-year contract extension with Manchester United in July 2023.

Jacobs also noted that Rashford is considering a move to La Liga, with Barcelona reportedly interested. However, financial limitations could complicate a deal, making a loan the most realistic option—if Manchester United is willing to cover a significant portion of his wages.

Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, confirmed that they eyed the Englishman but noted that they weren’t willing to make an excessive approach to ensure they secured the player.

“It’s true, we were talking about Marcus Rashford and it was a possible signing… but he couldn’t come,” Deco said. “We weren’t desperately looking for a signing. He was not a priority.”

Recently, Graeme Bailey, TBR Football’s chief correspondent, reported that Monchi spoke with Unai Emery and successfully persuaded him to consider signing Rashford on loan. The former Sevilla sporting director believes that Emery is the right person to help bring Rashford back to his best, with the player being described as “unbelievable.”
