Another game, another goal off the bench for Ferran Torres as he scored in stoppage time to help Barcelona beat Las Palmas 2-0 this past Saturday night.

The 24-year-old is not a regular in the team under Hansi Flick but has proven himself to be an important asset with his impactful performances coming on as a substitute.

The Spaniard has 11 goals and three assists from 27 games this season and is on track to achieving the best goal tally of his career.

Ferran demanding a starting spot

Now, as reported by SPORT, Ferran is pushing for a spot in the starting lineup in Tuesday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid.

The forward is the leading goalscorer in Copa del Rey this season with four strikes to his name and is making a strong case to be included in the team.

As such, the idea is that Ferran could be included in the starting XI by manager Flick either in tomorrow’s contest against Atletico or at the weekend when Barcelona take on Real Sociedad in La Liga.

The former Manchester City star has proven himself as a reliable option in the centre-forward position while also being capable of operating on the wings.

Barça have three huge games coming up in the space of the next nine days as they take on Atletico Madrid (Copa del Rey), Real Sociedad (La Liga), and Benfica (Champions League).

Given Lewandowski’s age and the fact that he appeared a bit off-colour against Las Palmas on Saturday, it makes sense for Flick to use Ferran in one of the two matches this week to keep the veteran fresh for next week’s UCL encounter.
