Bayer 04 Leverkusen – facing Victor Boniface’s departure – may be preparing to sign Irish striker Evan Ferguson as a replacement. This is reported by, among others, transfer expert Ronan Murphy. The 18-times-capped Republic of Ireland international currently maintains an estimated market worth of €40m.
Ferguson has earned just two EPL starts for Brighton & Hove Albion this year, scoring one league goal off the bench for the Seagulls. In total, the 20-year-old has scored 13 Premiership goals in 59 appearances since making the move to England from Phibsborough in 2021.
Florian Plettenberg has also confirmed the story, citing that the Irishman is one of the top candidates to replace the outgoing Victor Boniface.
Brighton are aware of B04’s interest but have not yet decided whether to let Ferguson go out on loan before deadline day.
Ferguson’s lack of playing time this season and Leverkusen’s need for a classically trained nine could see matters progress rapidly.
