With the Bundesliga season finally over, Jonathan Tah is gearing up for the next chapter of his career as he leaves Bayer Leverkusen.
The defender’s contract expires at the end of next month, and the player won’t be renewing his contract. Therefore, he will be available as a free agent in the coming summer.
Tah’s status as a potential free agent has put multiple clubs on red alert, including the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and even Bayern Munich.
These three clubs have been linked with a move for Tah for the longest time. In fact, there were even times when it was thought Barcelona are all geared up to sign the German international on a free transfer.
However, Barcelona’s deal to sign Tah has since stalled, and as per Fabrizio Romano, it is Bayern Munich who are the clear favourites to sign the Leverkusen defender.

The Bavarians are leading Barcelona in the race to sign Tah, who has the final say on his future.
Romano adds that Tah already has the offer from Bayern Munich and it won’t be long before the German takes a final call.
This could come as a real blow for Barcelona as the Catalans had an ideal opportunity to sign one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga on a free transfer.
However, the club’s economic woes are still not over and therefore, Barça won’t be able to go after newer players until they manage to significantly reduce their wage bill.
This would require player sales in the coming summer, with Ronald Araujo emerging as a candidate for a sale, as Barça look to generate some much-needed revenue.
