Bayern Munich must come from behind to reach the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday evening when they visit Inter in the second leg of their quarter-final tie.

The 2-1 first leg defeat at the Allianz Arena has put Vincent Kompany's side in a difficult predicament heading to San Siro and they know they need victory to reach the final four - whether that's in regulation time, extra-time or via penalties. If they can't muster a win in Milan, their European journey will be over.

Bayern's task has been made even more challenging by their current injury situation, with players absent left, right and centre. They visit Italy with a weakened defence and will be without their creative talisman Jamal Musiala.

Here is how Bayern could line up against Inter.

GK: Jonas Urbig - Manuel Neuer will be absent for the second leg despite hopes he would be available, with 21-year-old Urbig stepping in once more. He's failed to keep a clean sheet in his last five outings.

RB: Konrad Laimer - Bayern's defensive injuries have forced a reshuffle in recent weeks and Laimer, an orthodox midfielder, has started at right-back since the March international break.

CB: Eric Dier - Dayot Upamecano and Hiroki Ito will miss the remainder of the season, with enormous responsibility falling on the shoulders of Dier. He will be hard pushed to keep Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez quiet on Wednesday.

CB: Kim Min-jae - Kim is holding Bayern's threadbare defence together but has never kept a shutout against Inter. He knows all too well the power of San Siro from his time at Napoli.

LB: Josip Stanisic - Alphonso Davies is also out for the campaign and Stanisic has been shifted to left-back in his place. The 25-year-old will need to be effective in both halves as Bayern look to overturn the deficit.

DM: Joshua Kimmich - Bayern's midfield metronome will need to keep the Germans ticking on their travels in his preferred role in the engine room. He must find space against an experienced and well-stocked Inter midfield.

DM: Leon Goretzka - Goretzka's renaissance has been impressive but he will need to dominate an extremely combative midfield trio if Bayern are to come out on top in Milan.

RW: Michael Olise - The summer recruit has sprinkled his magic throughout his debut season and Bayern could use another creative masterclass in the absence of Musiala. He has managed five goals and two assists in Europe this term.

AM: Thomas Muller - Muller scored from the bench against Inter in the first leg and was chosen to start Der Klassiker with Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. He's still dreaming of a fairytale end to his final year with Die Roten.

LW: Leroy Sane - Sane has impressed for Bayern this season but his best performances have generally come in the Bundesliga. He's only managed a single goal contribution in 12 Champions League games.

ST: Harry Kane - Kane will be seeking to end his two-game goal drought - a rather lengthy blank by the England skipper's standards - and will want to redeem himself after missing a glorious opportunity during the first leg.
