Defender Stefan de Vrij is likely to be fit for Sunday’s Serie A clash between Atalanta and Inter Milan despite a knee problem.
This according to Italian outlet FCInter1908. They report that the 33-year-old underwent medical tests today, which ruled out an injury to the meniscus of his knee.
Stefan de Vrij pulled out of the squad for Inter’s Champions League clash with Feyenoord yesterday.
Reports had indicated that the former Lazio defender would start the round of sixteen second leg match. However, he felt a problem with his knee in the warmup.
Therefore, de Vrij did not play yesterday. Instead, Francesco Acerbi started in the centre of Inter’s back three.
Naturally, there has been some doubt about whether de Vrij could return for Inter’s next match.
Inter only have one more match to go before the March international break. But it is a huge one.

The Nerazzurri travel to Bergamo to take on Atalanta next Sunday, with that match already feeling like a potential title-decider.
Therefore, Inter will hardly want to deal with too many injuries for such a big match.
According to FCIN1908, Stefan de Vrij underwent tests with the Inter Milan medical staff today.
And there was a sigh of relief from these, the outlet report. These tests ruled out a tear to de Vrij’s meniscus.
Rather, the Dutchman is just dealing with some inflammation.
Therefore, it will only be a few days before de Vrij has recovered.
Accordingly, reports FCIN1908, there is every chance that the 33-year-old will be ready to return for Sunday’s away trip to Atalanta.
