Borussia Dortmund interested in SC Freiburg winger Ritsu Doan | OneFootball

Sky Germany reports that Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for SC Freiburg winger Ritsu Doan, as the Japanese international is looking to leave in the summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who have been previously linked with the 26-year-old, remain interested and are planning to begin negotiations with Freiburg over Doan next week.

Dortmund have already held talks with the winger over a potential move in the summer, but the topic will only become more relevant if die Schwarzgelben qualify for the Champions League and can finance the deal. Dortmund could potentially qualify for the Champions League next season at the stake of Doan’s current club, Freiburg, or Frankfurt, the other club interested. On the final day, Frankfurt play Freiburg and Dortmund plays Holstein Kiel as the three battle it out for the final two Champions League spots.

Doan is likely to leave Freiburg in the summer. The Japanese international’s contract is valid in the Breisgau until 2027, but he does not have a release clause. Freiburg will demand at least €20m for the 26-year-old.

Freiburg already have Doan’s replacement lined up. Cyriaque Irié is set to join the club from French side Troyes for a fee of around €10m.
