Bournemouth fans renewed acquaintances with Eddie Howe once again.
A legend at the club, saving them from dropping into non-league and then taking them all the way through the divisions right up into the Premier League.
Saturday saw two teams at St James’ Park who were in great form Newcastle United nine wins in a row, Bournemouth unbeaten in ten.
Interesting then to see what Bournemouth fans have had to say after what transpired in Saturday’s match, a crushing 4-1 defeat for Newcastle United.
Bournemouth fans commenting via their message board Up The Cherries…
‘I am immensely jealous of all of you who are out on the Toon tonight after that. Enjoy every second of it….it won’t get much better than a night out in Newcastle after a 4-1 win (should’ve been 5 or 6) to go 6th an 1 point off the Champions League places. With 13 fit players. Just incredible.’
‘How about a night out in Sunderland?’
‘Tears in my eyes. Who would ever have thought this possible? If I were one of the injured players I would be rushing to get fit before this band of Brothers nail the shirts for the season. So proud to be a lifelong Cherry.’
‘I’m speechless!
Eddie Who?’
‘Wow wow wow.
Simply put, our best PL performance of all time.
Playing away to a team with nine wins in a row, in one of the most difficult grounds to go to, against a forward who has scored eight games in a row…..
We won 4-1 and the score line flattered them. Let that sink in, they were lucky only to lose 4-1.’
‘Comment on BBC Sport website from a Newcastle fan: Just leaving St James’ Park. Bournemouth are easily the best team I’ve seen there in a long time. Totally deserved their victory. Superb from start to finish.’
‘Defeated the media’s favourites , the refereeing cabal and those inadequates who pretend to be pundits.’
‘Battered fishy on a dishy for a few along with a couple of pints of electric soup – well deserved night out for the traveling fans!’
‘Just got back from watching it at my mate’s house. He’s a Man United ‘fan’ and came up with a classic quote. ‘What the hell are your boys doing, you’re 3-1 up and still attacking’.’
‘We actually made that look quite easy… What a game..!!!!’
‘Fantastic – were Newky really on a nine game winning streak.’
‘That’s as complete and dominant a win as I could possibly imagine. How are those guys still able to fly around the pitch after 90 minutes. Kluivert’s goals were all beauties. Isak was invisible, played right out of the game. How may intercepted passes did we take off them today?
I mentioned being robbed of euphoria after Chelsea …. but this is beyond that.
And a quick word for Eddie Howe ……….. what an embarrassment to preside over such a bunch of diving cheaters.’
‘I would remind you all, we still need another win to stay up. Fatigue will play it’s part. A defeat against Forest and we will be looking over our shoulders.
I bid you all a good afternoon.’
‘Interviews with both mangers are excellent after the match.
I think I may be in love with AI.
Sorry Eddie, but it just wasn’t working out for me, what with you leaving AFCB and all that; you’ll always have a place in my heart though.’
‘I actually feel oddly emotional.
This is genuinely special.’
‘Great minds..’
‘These results should lift the January blues if anyone has them.’
‘The Premier League have issued a statement explaining why Dango Ouattara’s goal for Bournemouth against Newcastle was disallowed.
Ouattara put the ball in the net from close-range, celebrating what he thought was a third goal for the Cherries at St James’ Park. The celebrations didn’t last long, though, with a VAR check finding that the ball had gone out of play seconds earlier.’
‘Shame there’s apparently no discretion to allow an advantage when the conceding team themselves have put the ball out- and tried to keep it in.’
‘It went out.’
‘Today’s win is really testing my resolve to stick to “dry January”.’
‘Tears when the 3rd went in…I need to man up. I was leaping around like a loon though. Does it get any better than this ?’
‘Just phoned my dad and thanked him for making me support this club for 50 years, almost 80 for him.’
‘As games that I’ve seen us on the tv it looked like one of the most complete performances.
We used to just say “as long as the players give everything I’m happy” – trouble is that bar has been set quite high now…’
‘I think people are starting to take notice. We controlled the game on their turf and were deserved winners. 1-4 didn’t flatter us at all.
What a special team we have right now. Now lets get some bodies back in the squad please!’
‘Not only a great result but a great and thoroughly professional performance throughout. How they sustained such a high level throughout including lots of added on time (for fouls awarded for their falling to the ground and Oscar winning stuntman rolls) was remarkable.’
‘Very difficult to pick a man-of-the-match as all were superb but to score three at St James Park, I gravitate to Kluivert.’
‘Outplayed. Outpowered. Overwhelmed. Outbloomingstanding!
So very very proud of this team.’
‘Commentators keep going on about Newcastles unbeaten run ,conviently forgetting that we are unbeaten in the same amount of games.(and more now).’
‘To be fair, they had won 9 in a row. Puts the AFCB performance today in even higher esteem.’
‘Fantastic result, United’s winnng run finished, Isak goal scoring run finished.
Now AFCB are 10 league games unbeaten.’
‘That performance, all things considered, is the best AFCB away performance I have ever seen in fifty years.’
‘Time to lay on the floor for a bit and calm down.’
‘Wor Justin !
Milburn, McDonald, Shearer eat your hearts out…your boys have been massacred !’
