Brendan Rodgers makes demand with Celtic future in doubt

Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic in the summer of 2023 and has once again brought success to Parkhead. It was a stumbling start to his second spell but by the end of the 23/24 campaign, the Bhoys did manage to win a Premiership and Scottish Cup double. They could do one better this time around with a domestic treble still a possibility.
Rodgers has also helped the club improve in Europe. Celtic made it past the group phase of the Champions League for the first time in more than a decade before narrowly losing to Bayern Munich in the knockout round and taking the Bavarian giants to the limit in their own backyard.
Rodgers' long-term future at Celtic remains in doubt though. That is because his current deal with the club is set to run out at the end of the 25/26 campaign.
Celtic will surely want to agree an extension with Rodgers. But what does the Northern Irish manager want? At just 52 years of age, he might have aspirations to manage in a top-five European league again.
As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers wants “huge” transfer backing this summer with his long-term future uncertain. Both parties are happy with each other, but progress in the Champions League will be a big factor in maintaining the relationship going forward.
To be honest, Celtic did give Rodgers a decent bit of backing last summer. Adam Idah, Arne Engels and Auston Trusty were brought in for significant transfer fees. Jota returned in the winter as well. And Kieran Tierney has already agreed a pre-contract with his boyhood team.
Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic will back Rodgers with a significant transfer budget this summer as well. To be honest, his track record in this respect is not great and there is plenty room for improvement.
