Inter defender Carlos Augusto insists the Nerazzurri do not fear Barcelona or finishing the season without trophies, but admits they must ‘make improvements’ after three consecutive defeats.
The Nerazzurri lost 1-0 to Roma on Sunday and could see Napoli move three points clear at the top of the table if the Azzurri beat Torino tonight.
They had already lost the previous two matches against Bologna and Milan, and they have a Champions League semifinal against Barcelona coming up next week.
Carlos Augusto analysed the Roma game at a post-match press conference attended by Football Italia.
“They [Roma] took advantage of the chance they had. I don’t like giving excuses; it’s a defeat that hurts. We need to look at what we did wrong and make improvements,” he said.

Questioned about the upcoming match against Barcelona, Carlos Augusto replied: “Everyone wants to play, so we need to review what we did.
“Barcelona have great players and a great team with a strong attack. We are ready and must be mentally prepared as well. They are a very offensive team, and we must be ready for anything.”
Last week, Inter were dreaming of another legendary treble, but today they are potentially second in Serie A and with a big Champions League match incoming.
Do Inter fear finishing the season empty-handed?
“There’s no fear, the best thing is being in April with something to play for,” insisted the Brazilian defender.
“We have a chance to achieve extraordinary things; we are not afraid. This group has won a lot and is always focused. We must always give our best.”
The Nerazzurri’s next league game is against Verona at San Siro on May 3.
