While there is contradicting news circulating in the media regarding AC Milan’s stadium plans, they continue to show a preference for San Donato in their actions.

Il Cittadino (via MilanNews) report that in recent weeks the idea from Milan and Inter to build a new stadium together next to San Siro has come back into fashion, even if Paolo Scaroni has made it clear that San Donato is the priority.

“We have not abandoned San Donato, on the contrary it remains our number one opportunity . The priority for the energy and money we have spent. Mayor Squeri must not worry,” he said.

Faced with this conundrum, the Democratic Party, the ‘Together for San Donato’ group and the Lega have filed a motion in which they ask the administration of Mayor Francesco Squeri to interrupt the process related to the Program Agreement.

They wish to halt the process – which must be completed before a single spade can go into the ground – until Milan formally declare that ‘the building of the stadium in San Donato is their only essential option’.

There is another piece of news that has emerged in recent days. Calcio e Finanza, with the club accounts in hand, have in fact announced that RedBird have put more money into the San Donato project.

An addition €15m has been made available in addition to the €40m already spent to acquire the land from Sportlifecity, in order to continue preparations for the investment for the new stadium.

This capital increase confirms Milan’s firm will to move forward with the project, even if the new San Siro project with Inter remains on its feet as well because having an alternative is important.
