One of the factors giving some Manchester United fans hope is the belief that INEOS will provide head coach Ruben Amorim with the players needed to elevate his project at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils find themselves in a tricky position regarding the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Regulations.
As a result, they must first cash in on some of their players to facilitate those impactful signings.
Several players have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford, and one of the most talked-about names is winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Despite registering 10 goals and 11 assists — his best individual season in top-flight football — Garnacho is still considered a sellable asset.
Given that he emerged from United’s academy, any sale at a decent fee would significantly ease the club’s PSR concerns, as his departure would represent pure profit.
Beyond the financial aspect, the 20-year-old’s inconsistency in front of goal, despite his decent numbers, could persuade the 20-time Premier League champions to cash in.
Chelsea were initially seen as one of Garnacho’s potential suitors.
A recent report by The People Person suggested that Chelsea had spoken to Garnacho’s representatives, with a potential move hinging on Jadon Sancho’s future.
However, according to Caught Offside, that is no longer the case.
While Chelsea did show interest in Garnacho, they have now cooled their pursuit. Their primary focus has shifted to securing Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens instead.
With the West London club no longer prioritising Garnacho, could this jeopardise United’s hopes of cashing in on him?
Fortunately for United, Chelsea is not the only club interested in the Argentine winger.
Napoli are reportedly keen on the United number 17, with an earlier The People Person report suggesting they plan to reignite their interest in him this summer.
According to Caught Offside, beyond Napoli, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Bayer Leverkusen are also expected to be in the mix regarding Garnacho’s future.
If Garnacho departs, Amorim would likely seek a replacement, potentially a creative playmaker rather than a direct winger.
Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and Lyon’s Rayan Cherki are reportedly on United’s radar as they consider reshaping their attacking setup.
