Chelsea are gearing up for a busy few days as they look to reinforce their squad for the second half of the season. The Blues are notably short in several areas, including the left flank.

Chelsea are without Mykhailo Mudryk, who has been suspended since failing a doping test, and the west Londoners need to provide competition for Jadon Sancho on the left flank.

There are a couple of names the top brass would love to bring to Stamford Bridge, but it appears the Blues are planning to step up efforts to sign Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho.

According to L’Équipe, Chelsea will ramp up their move to secure his signature in the coming hours.

Perhaps the Londoners have given up on their Mathys Tel pursuit after coming short. The Frenchman was reportedly apprehensive about going to Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea might have decided to pursue other targets.

Chelsea have been sniffing around Garnacho since the Red Devils made him available. Napoli were also in the race for his signature but have dropped off to pursue other players, leaving the Blues a clear path to sign him.

Garnacho is another fantasy Chelsea signing

Garnacho is a developing footballer who can grow into a world-class forward at Chelsea. The much-criticised attacker is only 20 and has so much room to develop.

However, this Chelsea move is another one that fails to address the issues currently plaguing the squad. Ask any fan of the club heading into the transfer window where they needed to strengthen, and they’d point at the centre-forward and goalkeeper positions.

Instead, Chelsea have spent the winter window looking at wingers. Worse of all, wide-men who aren’t ready to help the team now but would still need time to grow and develop.

Chelsea’s sporting directors, Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, have continued to spend money recklessly, leaving the team weak, vulnerable, and unable to challenge for titles.

To make matters worse, Chelsea are now closing in on a €15 million deal for a 16-year-old left-back from Corinthians. With so many pressing issues in the squad, this kind of decision-making feels not just misguided but utterly baffling.
