Danish youth international continues to make headlines
Arsenal were dealt a painful reminder of Chido Obi-Martin’s talents after the Manchester United youngster scored a hat-trick in their 5-1 FA Youth Cup win over Chelsea.
The striker left Arsenal to join United earlier this summer after Obi-Martin rejected the offer of a new contract from the Gunners.
Obi-Martin scored a hat-trick on his debut for the United Under-18s and made his biggest statement yet by bagging another as the Red Devils thrashed the Blues to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup.
The teenager levelled after Reggie Welsh had opened the scoring for the Blues. A James Scanlon brace gave United a 3-1 lead before the break, with Obi-Martin completing his haul in the second-half.
United will now play the Gunners in the quarter-finals in March, with the 17-year-old almost certain to feature against his former club.
The sight of a former academy product scoring goals will be particularly painful for Arsenal, who have seen their own frontline decimated by injuries this season.
Kai Havertz is expected to miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, while Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli are also ruled out for the foreseeable future.
