Manchester City will be aiming to extend our stellar Etihad Stadium record in the Barclays Women’s Super League when we host Tottenham Hotspur.

Gareth Taylor’s side lock horns with the Londoners on Friday 4 November, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 (UK).

Tickets to the clash are available here and it represents our fourth-ever league fixture at the arena and fifth overall.

The Blues’ first match at the Etihad was a Women’s League Cup meeting with Everton where Natasha Flint’s late goal gave the hosts a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Toffees.

Since then, we’ve welcomed record crowds, scored fantastic goals and recorded memorable wins at the stadium – here are the stats and stories behind our performances at the over 53,000 capacity ground in the WSL.

UNBEATEN

Across our three WSL matches played at the Etihad Stadium, we have won two and drawn one with each played against Manchester United.

This means we have a 66.6% win average in the league at the arena and are yet to taste defeat when playing at the Etihad Stadium.

The first meeting with our cross-city rivals there was our 2019/20 league season opener where we recorded a 1-0 win and made the perfect start to the campaign.

Caroline Weir scored the game’s only goal and it was fit to win such an occasion when she thumped home from all of 25-yards.

We then met Marc Skinner’s side in December 2022 when Laura Coombs cancelled out Leah Galton’s opener with a fine second-half header in a 1-1 draw.

Then, in our most-recent outing, Jess Park scored twice before Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw struck in the second half in a memorable 3-1 success over Manchester United.

RECORD CROWDS

The sky blue faithful’s devoted and passionate support has been constantly reflected when Taylor’s team play at the Etihad.

A total of 31,213 spectators packed into the Etihad in 2019 to witness Weir’s wondergoal which set a new record for a City Women home match at the time.

That was until a phenomenal 44,259 fans witnessed the enthralling 1-1 draw between the hosts and Manchester United which is currently the Club’s highest-ever attended women’s match.

With the Blues embroiled in a fierce title race during the latter stages of last term, City then turned on the style in front of 40,086 with the 3-1 win in our previous Etihad outing.

GOALS GALORE

It’s fair to say our WSL matches at the Etihad have brought goals amid exciting matches with Manchester United.

Across the three league matches so far, seven goals have been scored meaning there have been an average of just over two per match.

In total, six of those have been scored by City across the two wins and one draw.

PASS MASTERS

History also shows that City have used the Etihad Stadium’s pitch’s dimension and size to our advantage.

Those of a sky blue persuasion are accustomed to the Club’s aesthetically pleasing and effective passing style of play that runs across our men’s, women’s and Academy teams.

Perhaps it’s then less of a surprise to see Taylor’s team record possession stats of 62.1% (2019), 54% (2022) and 53.3% (2024) across our outings in the area while recording a total of 39 shots in 270 minutes.

HISTORY MAKER

The last time City women played at the Etihad Stadium, the mercurial Bunny Shaw created history.

With the hosts 2-0 up at half-time thanks to Park’s brace before the interval, the Jamaican extended our lead further which raised her total for the Club to 69 – surpassing Georgia Stanway’s tally.

This then made her the City’s all-time leading goalscorer – an overall she has since raised to 78.

OUT OF THE PARK

Thanks to her double against Manchester United in March, Park is currently the highest scoring women’s player at the Etihad.

She broke the deadlock on an enthralling afternoon when sweeping home Leila Ouahabi’s cross - lighting the blue touch paper.

Buoyed by the opener, the England international struck again soon after when showing her poacher’s instinct inside the area to volley home from close range.

HEMPO

October’s WSL and Etihad Player of the Month Lauren Hemp has relished playing at the Etihad.

In our 1-1 draw with Manchester United in 2022, she played centre stage by registering two shots on goals and created five chances on the afternoon.

She then followed this up by taking aim once and created an additional chance the following season.
