Manchester United flop Tyrell Malacia has reportedly emerged as a concrete transfer target for Serie A newcomers Como. According to the Daily Mail, Cesc Fabregas sees the Dutch left-back as a viable target to reinforce the flank amid the club’s bid to retain their top-flight status.

United forked out £13 million to sign Malacia from Feyenoord in the summer of 2022. Despite a promising start, the 25-year-old’s career at Old Trafford has never taken off. Indeed, recurring fitness problems and form woes have seen him make just 43 appearances for the Red Devils.

With Man Utd keen on luring Nuno Mendes away from Paris Saint-Germain, Malacia could be free to join Como. Fabregas landed Alberto Moreno in the summer. Although the Spaniard fared well in his early Serie A career, the ex-Monaco midfielder wants a younger alternative.

Given PSR restrictions, United cannot sign Mendes. The Portuguese speed demon has refused to pen a new contract at the Parc des Princes as he wants to join Ruben Amorim’s side. Malacia’s transfer to Como could unlock the deal.

Therefore, the Dutchman could be available on a cut-price deal. Como could use an additional option on the left flank, considering Moreno is 32 and prone to injuries. Meanwhile, they must watch out for growing interest in teenage sensation Nico Paz.

Signed from Real Madrid in the summer, Paz has been a revelation in Serie A this season.Reigning champions Inter are reportedly hellbent on acquiring his signature either now or at the end of the season.
