Could Paul Pogba bounce back at Marseille?

Paul Pogba (31) received a big boost earlier this month. The Frenchman, still under contract at Juventus, saw his doping ban reduced from four years to just 18 months, meaning that he will be free to return to competition as soon as March 2025.

However, whether that comeback will come at Juventus is another question entirely. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A club and Pogba are working on a contract termination, with both parties believing that a fresh start is necessary.

Should that happen, Pogba would be available on a free transfer. Patrice Evra, who described Pogba as a “little brother”, played with the midfielder at Manchester United, Juventus and with the France national team. Speaking on RMC Sport show Rothen s’enflamme, Evra said that he would lobby for his former teammate to join Olympique de Marseille.

“He wants to play football, wherever that may be, for example, why not at OM? I am going to phone Mehdi Benatia (Marseille’s sporting director) and tell him that the door is open,” said Evra.

The result of that lobbying? Nothing, as of yet. Despite some reports of talks between Marseille and Pogba, Mohamed Toubache-Ter insists that to date, there has been no contact made. Toubache-Ter says that whilst OM “respect” the France international, no talks have been held.
