DEFEATED BY PINETO IN THE MIDWEEK CLASH

Another loss as a result of a comeback, completely undeserved. It ended 2-1 to Pineto on Serie C Now matchday 31 (Group B). Quirini's brilliant goal in the first half was not enough for Milan Futuro. In the second half, goals from Marrancone and Gambale turned things about and gifted Pineto the three points. The Abruzzesi were extremely clinical: two chances, two shots, two goals. After the home draw against Perugia, we suffered a loss similar to the one against Legnago, at least in the way it developed. There is clearly a bittersweet feeling following the chances that we could not convert in the first half, when the scoreline could've been even more in our favour. Sia's close-range effort was saved by Tonti, Camarda's lob went over the bar and Alesi's right-footed effort was saved by Tonti. In a chaotic finale, which could've changed the result, the referee initially awarded us a penalty but after speaking with his assistant, the decision was overturned. Then, Quirini hit the bar twice, summing up a difficult second half for us. On Saturday we return to the Chinetti in Solbiate to take on Pontedera: the teams will face off at 15:00 CET and we will need a win in order to stay up.

MATCH REPORT Coach Oddo's side were convincing in the first half: the team created lots of chances and boxed Pineto into their own half, without conceding spaces or counter attacks. The first big chance came in the seventh minute following some good work from Camarda and Alesi, who played in Sia in front of goal: but his shot was saved by Tonti. We pushed again in the 17th minute and Tonti responded to deny Alesi's shot. In the 25th minute, our deserved lead came courtesy of Quirini, who controlled Branca's pass and shot with his right foot to make it 1-0. Camarda had a chance to double our lead on the half hour mark, but the ball went over the bar. Francesco had another chance in the 37th minute, but his right-footed effort was blocked by the home side's defence. The second half began and Pineto equalised with their first chance through Marrancone, who had been on the pitch for a matter of seconds. His precise right-footed shot from the edge of the area beat Raveyre to make it 1-1. Milan Futuro regained control over the match but were less incisive than the first half and conceded again in the 73rd minute. This time, the goal was created by two newly-entered substitutes: Chakir's cross was met by Gambale's header. The final stages of the match were filled with chances for Milan Futuro: in the 75th minute, Quirini hit the bar twice in the same action, firstly with a header and then a left-footed effort. The Rossoneri were then awarded a penalty, which was initially given by the referee but then overturned following a consultation with one of the linesmen. In the 91st minute, Tonti pulled off another brilliant save to deny Alesi's curling effort. Full Time.
