On Thursday, Newcastle United announced that Eddie Howe had returned to work.
The United boss having spent time in hospital due to a bout of pneumonia.
Back at the training ground, Eddie Howe also returning to media duties.
Jason Tindall having covered in his absence.
As well as more immediate matters, Eddie Howe was also quizzed about one of his midfielders, asked if there was a possibility he could move to another club this summer.
Eddie Howe making clear though that Lewis Miley won’t be going anywhere:
“Lewis Miley is absolutely pivotal to our future here.
“From my perspective, he is going absolutely nowhere.
“We want to build the team with him in it, for many, many years.
“That is my thought process.”
Lewis Miley was incredible last season.
A 17 year old who due to the injury crisis and Sandro Tonali’s ban, ended up playing so many first team matches, the majority of them in a concentrated period where he had to play every midweek and weekend.
Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups, Lewis Miley handled it superbly.
His 2023/24 season curtailed by injury, Lewis Miley then picked up another injury ahead of the current 2024/25 season, that and the availability and form of the likes of Joelinton, Tonali and Bruno, has meant the now 18 year old Lewis Miley having to play a waiting game.
The fact that he has had so few starts this season and the reality that selling homegrown talent is crazily especially beneficial from a PSR/FFP perspective, leading some Newcastle United fans to wonder whether Lewis Miley could be sold, like Elliot Anderson last June.
He was already 6ft 2 tall as a 17 year old but has clearly grown into his frame and looks far stronger now, as well as quicker and more mobile, indeed, he looks an even better player all round. Lewis Miley looking more confident now and despite starting only four first team matches this season he has scored two cracking goals.
Lewis Miley is a special talent and due to playing so much last season, easy to forget he is still so young, set to turn 19 on Thursday.
Plenty of time for Lewis Miley to develop and in time become an automatic first eleven choice, plus next season United will have European matches to play as well, so plenty of football to share around and Eddie Howe needing as big a squad of quality players as possible.
