Omar Marmoush is among a number of Eintracht Frankfurt’s best players that are not deemed ‘unsellable’ by the club, their director of football has admitted.
The Egypt international, who has been an integral member of Frankfurt’s set-up so far this season, ranks highly amongst Manchester City’s transfer targets for both this month and if necessary, into next summer.
The current belief is that in an ideal world, the Premier League champions would want to complete a deal for the 25-year-old in the January market to aid their hopes of a strong second-half to the ongoing season.
However, the club are aware that an agreement will not come easy as Eintracht Frankfurt have their own lofty ambitions for the remainder of the campaign and Omar Marmoush plays a significant role for the German club in those plans.
But speaking during a recent interview, as translated and relayed by the Manchester Evening News, director of football at Eintracht Frankfurt, Markus Krosche has admitted that Omar Marmoush is not ‘unsellable’ despite his importance to the ongoing success of the club.
“For us, we don’t want to lose so many key players,” Krosche insisted. “I have to honestly say that no Eintracht player is unsellable, but we want to keep the team together.”
He continued specifically on the subject of their Egyptian international star, “I talk about (Omar) Marmoush after every game. But that’s a good thing. Omar gives our game an incredible amount.”
A number of reports have already indicated that Omar Marmoush himself is keen on the idea of a switch to Manchester City, while others have gone one step further by suggesting that the versatile forward wants that move to happen this month.
As for the financing of a move, the Premier League champions are highly likely to have to spend at least £50 million to bring the player into Pep Guardiola’s squad, which should not be an issue given the figures raised by the sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid last summer.
Manchester City have other transfer goals to work on this month though, and have identified Lens’ Abdukodir Khusanov as an option to bring in at centre-back, whilst Atalanta’s Ederson has admirers within the club for the central midfield roles.
