Erik ten Hag has been given a new Manchester United sack deadline, just days after it emerged another manager had been approached by INEOS.

There was a lot of talk regarding Ten Hag’s future as manager during the previous international break. It’s likely to continue when the November internationals come around unless United’s results on the pitch improve.

United returned from the previous round of internationals by getting back to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Brentford. Sadly, the Reds were unable to build on that when they drew against Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

A report from The Times claims that Ten Hag has been given a new deadline with the next five matches likely to have an impact on his future.

Ten Hag is still under the spotlight after winning just three of his opening eight Premier League games, to leave United positioned 12th in the league table.

United need a quick turnaround to climb up the Premier League and to save their European campaign, after three consecutive draws in the Europa League.

Simone Inzaghi touted as potential Erik ten Hag successor

According to a report from InterLive this week, Simone Inzaghi has already reached an agreement with INEOS to succeed Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

The Inter Milan boss will apparently wait until the end of the season to sign a three-year deal with United.

None of the media outlets in the UK have recited the news, so it’s clearly come from sources in Italy – perhaps on Inzaghi’s side.

The report suggest that the Italian has “given his green light” after a “couple of video conferences with the board”.

The 48-year-old has been at the San Siro for three years, winning the Scudetto, two Coppa Italia trophies and reaching the Champions League final in 2023.

Premier League considers Inzaghi a ‘genius’

In March, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry called Inzaghi ‘a genius’ after Inter scored an extraordinary goal against Bologna in Serie A.

“It is quite often said that strikers cannot be good managers, but he defies the logic. The way he sets up his teams is second to none,” Henry told CBS Sports, as quoted by Football Italia.

“When a team is trying to build out from the back, the wing-backs press forward, but then they retreat and that is where they are comfortable.

“Now you can see it is virtually impossible to play inside them. They are ready for you. They also have to defend lower and can do 5-3-2, we can see Barella try to close the gap. They don’t have to try to play cute, with two strikers at the top, they can combine straight away.”

Henry added: “Wing-back to wing-back, we’ve seen it before, Antonio Conte did it, they do it better. But what I’ve never seen before is centre-back to centre-back, they did it this weekend! I’ve never seen from open play, 0-0 away from home, a left centre-back crossing for the right centre-back to score a goal.

“I’ve never seen that, this guy obviously is a genius.”
