Everton are gearing up for one of the biggest nights in the history of Goodison Park, as they face Liverpool for the final time before they make the move to their new stadium next season.

The famous old ground in the Walton area of Liverpool was opened back in 1892, at a cost of £3,000 at the time.

Plans for a new stadium have been discussed since 1997, but now the reality is hitting home as the final Merseyside derby in the historic venue will take place tonight.

Everton fans have welcomed the players with a sea of blue flares, marking the occasion with an electric atmosphere.

And the team surely must have felt the significance of the occasion on receiving such a reception.
