Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa is a “here we go” according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The 27 year old was on the radar of numerous top teams around Europe including FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund.
It was thought Barcelona were his preferred option but the Catalans were unable to make space for a deal for the England international.
It was relayed here yesterday that Aston Villa had reached an agreement with United on a deal that will see Rashford go to Villa Park until June 2025.
It was also thought that Villa would cover 60% of his wages but it seems that the Birmingham-based side will cover even more.
Fabrizio Romano posted on his X account this morning: “Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa, here we go!”
“Agreement in place on loan deal with over 70% salary covered by Villa.”
“Buy option clause worth £40m also included in contract with potential three year and half deal to follow.”
The medical is also booked for later today.
Therefore, it is logical to assume that the deal will be completed and announced later on today or on Monday at the latest.
United fans and coach Ruben Amorim will be glad that the issue has finally been settled as the situation was hanging over the club like a black cloud.
The Red Devils are now in a race against time to find a replacement for Rashford and it was reported last night that they are still in the market for Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku and, surprisingly, Villa’s Leon Bailey as potential options.
Rashford is likely to make his debut for the Villans at home to Tottenham Hotspur next week in the FA Cup.
