A former member of the boardroom at La Liga giants Barcelona hopes to see Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. take his talents to the Middle East this summer.

Wide-man Vinícius has of course long been tipped to make the move to Saudi Arabia.

Owing to a combination of SPL interest in his signature, and the Brazilian’s at-times difficult situation in Spain, it has been widely reported that Vinícius could ultimately be seduced by the staggering money on offer in the Middle East.

The player himself recently moved to play down any such speculation, in assuring:

“I will resolve the negotiation of my contract in the next few days and I will stay here for a long time. I have always said that my wish is to continue at Real Madrid.”

But as alluded to above, one individual who is nevertheless holding out hope of Vinícius bringing a close to his stint at the Santiago Bernabéu comes in the form of Joan Gaspart.

Gaspart, who acted as Barcelona president from 2000 to 2003, this week sat down for an interview with Saudi outlet Al-Eqtisadiah.

And, in quotes cited by Diario AS, the Spaniard went on to admit:

“As a Barcelona supporter, I hope Vinicius accepts the Saudi offer. I hope it will be good enough to convince him. I hope he accepts it because he is one of the great players and his departure will be the best for Barcelona. He’s a very fast player, with impressive dribbling, with a terrible character, but he is always very motivated by his team.”
