Manchester City and Fulham have finalised an agreement over the transfer of academy midfield talent, Seth Chingwaro.
The London-born teenager progressed through Manchester City’s Academy system since joining the club aged 11, showing an ability to play in a holding role, or in a box-to-box operation and thus impacting both ends of the pitch.
However, with competition for places becoming more complex at the Etihad Stadium and with the temptation of quickening up a route to first-team football, the player has opted to take his career in a new direction.
In a statement released by the west London club on Tuesday afternoon, Fulham said, “The Club is delighted to announce the signing of young midfielder Seth Chingwaro from Manchester City.
“Seth, who turned 17 in December, is a midfielder capable of performing in multiple different roles, whether that’s as a deeper player or one looking to impact games in the final third.
“The teenager has spent the last six years at Man City and has progressed through the age groups, making four appearances in the Under-18s Premier League North this season. He made his U18s league debut for City towards the end of the last campaign.”
Speaking to Fulham’s official club website in light of his arrival, Chingwaro said, “It’s a great feeling to join Fulham.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunities here and pushing on to hopefully make the First Team in the future.
“I’m a creative player. I like to play in pockets, get on the ball and dribble with it.”
As previously reported by transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, it is understood that Manchester City and Fulham agreed on a £750,000 fee of the transfer of the teenage midfielder, and it remains to be seen if any clauses are included in that deal.
