Galatasaray fans make bid to keep Osimhen at club | OneFootball

The Galatasaray fans have urged Victor Osimhen to turn down interest from Europe’s elite and sign for the club on a permanent basis.

Osimhen has enjoyed a record-breaking loan spell with the Istanbul outfit this season. After a fallout at Napoli and failed transfer away from the Italian side, he joined Galatasaray on a season-long arrangement last summer.

The Nigeria international has scored 36 goals in 40 appearances for Galatasaray, setting a new seasonal record for the most goals scored by a foreign player in Turkish football history.

He opened the scoring as Galatasaray clinched the Süper Lig title on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Kayserispor, having netted twice in the Turkish Cup final win over Trabzonspor last week.

During the club’s title-clinching win at the weekend, the Galatasaray fans made their feelings clear to the striker.

Amid continued chants of Osimhen’s name, the fans unveiled a banner saying ‘Stay with us, not because you have to, but because you want to’.

The forward was also handed a piece of paper by Galatasaray-supporting children on the pitch with the message ‘Stay with us Osimhen’.

Osimhen has a release clause of €75m (£63m) in his contract at Napoli and is a transfer target for Premier League teams. Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also been named as suitors.

It would take an extraordinary effort for Galatasaray to keep Osimhen, whose price tag far exceeds the Turkish Süper Lig transfer record. The current record is the €19.5m (£16.4m) deal that took Youssef En-Nesyri to Fenerbahce from Sevilla last summer.
