Hansi Flick provides injury update on Barcelona star ahead of Dortmund showdown | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of defensive star Iñigo Martínez.

This comes after the Spanish international played no part in the club’s latest outing.

Barcelona were of course back in action on Saturday night, welcoming Real Betis to Catalunya’s capital for a crunch La Liga clash.

En route to an eventual 1-1 stalemate, however, Iñigo was not even afforded a place on the bench.

This came owing to what Barca themselves described pre-match as ‘a minor gluteal injury in his left leg’.

Just days out from the Blaugrana’s highly-anticipated Champions League quarter-final first-leg showdown with Borussia Dortmund, a first-choice member of Hansi Flick’s backline in turn saw his status thrown up in the air.

Speaking to the media post-match on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Iñigo’s wellbeing was put to Barcelona’s headmaster himself.

And Flick’s response proved an altogether encouraging one, with the German having assured:

“Iñigo will return to training on Monday. He should be ready to face Dortmund.”
