A grand challenge awaits FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu when it comes to La Liga. Taking on Real Madrid away from home, this will possibly be the biggest challenge yet for La Blaugrana. However, if there is one thing that remains guaranteed about Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, it is their desire to win.

From their intensity to their overall work-rate, this Barcelona team does not know when to quit or when to stop piling on the pressure, as they showed against Bayern Munich. Fortunately for Hansi Flick, that is exactly the kind of team that he wants to coach and develop moving forward.

As for the game against Real Madrid, there is a lot of excitement and anticipation for a grand El Clasico encounter between two of Spain’s top sides. However, in his recent press conference, the Barcelona coach revealed something quite interesting in terms of his starting line-up.

According to the Barcelona head coach, as highlighted by SPORT, there is still no guarantee in terms of who will start in the midfield against Real Madrid, and whether it will be Fermin Lopez or another option altogether:

“I haven’t decided if Fermín will start at the Bernabéu. The other day, he was involved in three goals; he did very well.”

With this information, it can be assumed that Flick is still considering his options for the game and will likely decide later what his final midfield will be for the game. Pedri and Marc Casado, on one hand, should be guarantees for the fixture given their consistency and importance to the Barcelona structure.

As for Fermin Lopez, the only names that can naturally come as options for Flick to even consider starting would be Frenkie de Jong, Dani Olmo, or possibly Pablo Torre. In the case of the first two, it would only be due to a lack of match fitness that either of the two are still being kept away from starting for Barça again.

Eventually, the answer will come out and it is now Hansi Flick’s responsibility to ensure that he ends up making the right decision. For a game as big as this against an opponent as dangerous as Los Blancos, tactical errors are the worst kind of blunder that Barcelona could end up making.
