Tottenham’s season has taken an unexpected turn, and Heung-Min Son finds himself at the centre of the storm.

The South Korean forward, long considered a talisman for Spurs, is now facing criticism over his performances and leadership on the pitch.

While injuries have certainly played a role in Tottenham’s struggles, there are growing concerns that some key players are not delivering to the expected standard.

Former Spurs midfielder Jamie O'Hara has now voiced his doubts about Son's ability to lead the team, questioning whether he is the right captain to guide Tottenham through this difficult period.

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport (h/t Tottenham News), O'Hara did not hold back in his assessment of Tottenham’s recent performances and Son’s role in the team’s lack of direction.

"When you look at Tottenham’s two recent games, this was the moment to show that they could compete. Unfortunately, they’ve shown the complete opposite. There’s no fight, no heart, no desire, and certainly no leadership," O'Hara said.

"For me, that lack of leadership comes from the manager and the captain. I hate to say it, but Son Heung-Min is not the right captain for this team anymore."

O'Hara acknowledged Son's contributions to the club over the years but stressed that he does not possess the leadership qualities required in a crisis.

"A captain should be someone who can lead from the front, someone who can grab the team by the scruff of the neck and get the team out of a hole.

"Son isn’t that, it’s time to take the captaincy off him and give it to someone else."

Just a few days ago, former Tottenham player and current Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp also shared his thoughts on Spurs' captain, stating: "I just don't see him as a captain."

Tottenham enduring a season of frustration

Tottenham’s struggles have been compounded by the departure of Harry Kane, which has left a significant void in the squad.

Despite making key signings in the summer, including Dominic Solanke, Spurs have been unable to find consistency.

With the team still in the Europa League, there is hope that their season can be salvaged.

However, if Son and his teammates fail to turn things around, the scrutiny on his captaincy and overall performances is only likely to intensify.
