Hoffenheim vs. Bayern München preview: Hosts look to secure safety against champions

While unlikely, there is a scenario in which Hoffenheim find themselves in the Bundesliga relegation playoff.
Sitting in 15th with a points tally of 32, Die Kreichgauer carry a three-point advantage over Heidenheim, who occupy the playoff spot. Despite a difficult task at hand against the recently crowned champions, Hoffenheim's goal difference of -18 should see the Sinsheimers safe when compared to Heidenheim's -24 figure.
Looking to get what has been a dismal campaign out of the way, Christian Ilzer's men have failed to win any of their last four, and have won just one Bundesliga outing in their last nine.
Team News
Hoffenheim's list of absentees remains extensive. Defenders Christopher Lenz, Ozan Kabak, Stanley N'Soki and Valentin Gendrey all remain sidelined.
Diadie Samassekou, Grischa Prömel, Gift Orban and Ihlas Bebou also all remain sidelined.
As Bayern lifted the Meisterschale last time out against Borussia Mönchengladbach, Allianz Arena also had the chance to say goodbye to one of their finest in Thomas Müller.
Going into the final weekend, Die Rekordmeister are aiming to end the season on a high after a fantastic first year under Vincent Kompany.
Bayern have been prolific in the Bundesliga this season, with their tally of 95 goals being at least 25 better than every other side in the Bundesliga.
Kompany's side also ran out as 5-0 winners against Hoffenheim back in January, placing the champions as firm favourites on their travels across the Bavarian/Baden-Würrtemberg border towards Sinsheim.
Team News
Bayern go into the weekend with a depleted backline, with Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, Hiroki Ito and Kim Min-Jae all unavailable for selection.
Jamal Musiala is also suffering from a hamstring issue, however, Thomas Müller would likely have been selected anyway for his final Bundesliga match with the club.
