Both clubs are set to be extremely well-backed in North London
Excitement is building ahead of the Championship play-off final on Saturday afternoon, with Sheffield United and Sunderland preparing to battle it out for a place in the Premier League.
The Blades saw off Bristol City with a record-breaking 6-0 aggregate score in the semi-finals, whilst the Black Cats went through an emotional rollercoaster against Coventry City over two legs, with Regis Le Bris' men booking their place at Wembley Stadium through Dan Ballard's 121st-minute header against the Sky Blues to progress 3-2 on aggregate.
The scenes which followed the centre-back's decisive strike was yet another memorable moment weaved into the tapestry of the post-season lottery that was incorporated in the late 1980s, and supporters of both sides and the neutral will be hoping for something similar on Saturday as they look to end their respective exiles from English football's elite.
Those at Bramall Lane have enjoyed three seasons in the Premier League since the North East outfit suffered relegation under David Moyes eight years ago, with the Stadium of Light more recently playing host to League One football prior to a memorable day against Wycombe Wanderers in North London three years ago.
Both clubs are two of the most well-supported clubs in the Championship, and as the build-up and hype increases, FLW has looked at their respective ticket sales by the time of Thursday, May 22nd.
After sealing their relatively smooth passage to the national stadium, it was confirmed shortly after by the Blades' official website that the club had been allocated 35,531 tickets at Wembley's East End, which is a greater allocation than what they were given two years ago for the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.
Unsurprisingly, these tickets were available to United supporters during various windows based on season ticket status and loyalty points, with the first of those opening on Wednesday 14th, May, two days after defeating the Robins in S2, before they were taken off-sale three days before the showpiece event.
It has been reported by the Sheffield Star that the vast majority of those tickets have been snapped up, with approximately 35,000 expected to make the trip down from South Yorkshire.
Those in attendance will also be hoping that those in red and white can end their play-off hoodoo, having been unsuccessful in all nine of their previous campaigns, as well as losing the Championship play-off final on three occasions to Crystal Palace, Wolves and Burnley.
As expected, the Mackems were also given an initial allocation of 35,531 to match the even split of supporters that has become the norm for big occasions at Wembley.
Given the importance of the game and the well-documented size of the fanbase on Wearside, these were all snapped up extremely quickly, with those who missed out hoping that there was a small off-chance of extra tickets being provided.
Those who fell under that particular bracket would have been delighted when it was announced that an extra 1,000 tickets had been put on sale and were sold almost instantly, meaning that Le Bris' men will be backed by a 36,500-strong support, perhaps giving the young squad an extra advantage, although allocations so often mean nothing.
