With Marc-Andre ter Stegen out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury, FC Barcelona have brought in Wojciech Szczesny as an emergency replacement for the club captain.
Indeed, the Blaugrana convinced the 34-year-old former Arsenal and Juventus star to come out of retirement and sign for the club on a short-term deal until the end of the season, with the transfer being made official earlier today.
Now, SPORT has come forward with an update regarding Szczesny’s contract details and salary with Barcelona.
As mentioned earlier, the former Poland international has only inked a short-term deal which will expire on June 30, 2025.
As far as his salary is concerned, the report states that Szczesny would be earning around €3 million gross for his stint with the Catalans until the end of the season.
It is understood that the pay packet is much lower than what the goalkeeper used to earn at Juventus before his retirement during the summer.

But, the salary that Barcelona were offering was never a problem during negotiations between the two parties.
In fact, the report adds that the agreement between Szczesny and Barcelona was finalised very quickly, with Robert Lewandowski helping the club convince his compatriot to come out of retirement and join them.
Szczesny will be taking the No. 25 shirt at Barcelona – the only first-team number left available for a goalkeeper currently.
Szczesny’s registration with La Liga is unlikely to be an issue as Barcelona can use 80% of Ter Stegen’s salary space to get him enrolled as per the league’s regulations.
The 34-year-old will also be eligible to compete in the UEFA Champions League right from the get-go.
