Almost every FC Barcelona player was on song as the Catalans beat Real Betis with a 5-1 scoreline in their Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie last night.
Gavi scored his 2nd goal since his return from injury in this game, while other usual suspects like Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Ferran Torres also got on the scoresheet.
Another surprising player to get a goal in this match was Jules Koundé, who was once again at his best in this game after a very good outing against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final last Sunday.
After scoring the second goal for Barcelona on the night, he could have added another to his tally. However, his second one was ruled out for offside, as VAR detected him to be ahead of the last defender by a distance not more than a few millimeters.
As SPORT has reported, the French defender took this ruled-out goal in good humor, as he took to social media to joke about his boots after the game. Reflecting on this event, the Blaugrana defender wrote on his Instagram account: “I need to change the shape of my ‘preds'”
This offside decision was quite similar to another recent decision in which another Barcelona goal was ruled out for Robert Lewandowski’s extended boot being offside.
But despite this decision, the Catalans showcased their domination once again on the pitch, and happiness and euphoria reigned in the dressing room following this victory.
This latest performance further highlights the good run of form that Kounde is currently experiencing. Before scoring the goal against Betis, he was also decisive in the match against Real Madrid where is put in an exquisite ball for Raphinha to score his goal.
Hopefully, the Frenchman will continue displaying this high level for the weeks to come, and his performances can turn out to be decisive as the Catalans enter the business end of the season.
