The Baggies have been unable to make serious inroads during the window due to their process to hire Carlos Corberan’s successor, with Tony Mowbray now appointed and stability created.

Albion have only managed to recruit one new face to the Black Country so far this term, with Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Price making the move to The Hawthorns on a permanent deal.

With West Brom scouring the market for last-minute deals, the signing of a striker has to be a priority due to the long-term injury to top scorer Josh Maja, while Daryl Dike’s fitness remains unreliable despite nearing a return to action.

The recruitment of a handful of players between now and the 3rd February could be the difference maker to cementing a top six place, so Albion must begin ramping up the searches to give Mowbray the best chance of delivering immediate success.

Here at Football League World, we list the realistic players Albion should try and secure deals with before the window shuts.

Stuart Armstrong

First up is former Southampton midfielder Stuart Armstrong, who currently plays his football in the States with MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps.

Armstrong played a crucial role in the Saints’ promotion out of the second tier last season, appearing in all but four of Southampton’s 46 games before his term was cut short by a serious injury.

Scoring five times and producing seven assists that term, the Scottish international has been linked with a return to the second tier, with Football League World sources revealing West Brom are rivaling Sheffield Wednesday for his signature.

While it will be difficult to negotiate a deal for a player so valued in America, the 32-year-old possesses the pedigree and talent to be an effective player in the Championship once again.

Albion are still in need of midfield players who can show a more dynamic and creative edge to unlock opposition defences, and the signing of Armstrong could go a long way to seeing the team score a lot more goals.

Willem Geubbels

Willem Geubbels is a strong contender to be approached by the Baggies, with the 23-year-old currently playing his football in Switzerland with St. Gallen, as well as gaining previous experience in Ligue 1 with Lyon and Nantes.

According to Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, the Baggies are interested in a move for the former French youth international, alongside rivals Leeds United and Norwich City.

Geubbels is a player who can add crucial versatility in the forward line when other players require rotation, capable of playing on both flanks and in the number nine position.

It would be a risk handing someone their first taste of Championship football at such a crucial point of the season, but having a player able to occupy any forward position would be a massive boost to the forward department when second tier games are coming thick and fast, so Albion may be tempted to consider a late approach.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Rounding off the list is former Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho, with the Nigerian international struggling to hit the heights in Spain with his current employers Sevilla.

The frontman hasn’t featured in La Liga for the last four games, with a report from El Sevillista stating West Brom and Watford have both held an interest in securing his services.

If a deal could get over the line for Iheanacho to move to The Hawthorns, the forward is a player who could flourish in the Championship, getting on the end of service from Tom Fellows and Mikey Johnston.
