Newcastle United are keen to bring in Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, and Bristol City fans may tell you the interest comes as no surprise.

Semenyo is proving to be a revelation at the Cherries.

The Ghanian is beginning to be noticed by clubs after his impressive form so far this season, and last campaign.

The 24-year-old has shown his explosive attitude on Andoni Iraola's side's right-wing, and most recently netted an impressive strike in their South-Coast derby, beating Southampton 3-1.

He definitely provides a unique stance in the Premier League and something that the Magpies are admiring according to TEAMTALK, as Bournemouth may do well to keep hold of him in the future.

This has been added to the fact that Arsenal are also interested in Semenyo, with Mikel Arteta appreciating the Bournemouth winger and teammate Milos Kerkez, with the pair reportedly being valued at around £80 million.

Bristol City fans may well be the first fans to tell you that the interest from Newcastle, Arsenal and host of Premier League clubs is warranted for Semenyo.

"I'm not surprised" - Bristol City stance on Newcastle interest in Antoine Semenyo

FLW's Bristol City fan pundit, Tom Sandy, is not shocked at the fact Semenyo is wanted for a step-up in his career: "I'm not surprised. He's stepped up fantastically in the last season to be one of Bournemouth's most important players.

"He was a very raw talent, because he played too much football before he joined our academy at quite a late age, but he had the physical prospects of becoming a great player, and I don't remember the youth academy we scouted him from, but he came to us, and we saw the prospect.

"He went on loan to Newport County and the fans there loved him and the fans at Ashton Gate certainly loved him. He came in, he was passionate, the way he would pick up the ball and drive with it, progressing the team forward was a joy to watch.

"The whole team could be having a bad game, but Semenyo playing well helps the entire team. He's not a selfish player in any regard.

"He reminds me slightly of Sinclair Armstrong, except for the fact Semenyo played wider. The main thing I would say he didn't really do well was his finishing. He would usually favour power over accuracy in the corners and I think he still does that in some regard at Bourenmouth, but his finishing has improved massively.

"It's a joy to watch him, because he's a unique prospect, but he's fantastic, and he's such a problem for opposition teams because he wants to go attack them and that's something Bournemouth and ourselves have done well in keeping that element in their game.

"I think it's fantastic to be getting that attention from Newcastle. Whether it's a good move for him, I'm not sure, but Newcastle have a lot of money to persuade him away from Bournemouth, and I'd be very happy for him either way."

Semenyo deserves Newcastle move after progression

Whether it needs to move or stay, either scenario would look likely to work for Semenyo. His progression under Iraola has been brilliant, performing consistently and there is no reason why he can't replicate his form if he did move to the Toon Army or another top half Premier League side, which is no doubt a step-up the ladder at the current moment.

You could see he still needed improvement from his Bristol City days to warrant a Premier League move, but his explosive nature and dangerous pace has proven to definitely be Premier League quality.

He is still years away from his peak, which could tempt him to stay with the Cherries, but if Newcastle offer the winger money like they have in the past with previous acquisitions, it could come as a no-brainer for the Ghanaian.

He is still a promising talent but is now emerging into a serious player on the Premier League stage, and a move to Newcastle could unlock that last bit of a spark he still needs to achieve.
