Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi admits that his side’s defensive faults are to blame for dropping points in their Serie A thriller against Juventus.

The Nerazzurri coach reacted to the wild 4-4 draw in an interview with DAZN, via FCInterNews. He argued that his team deserved three points but only had themselves to blame.

Inter will have felt that four goals was surely enough against Juventus.

Playing against a side who have conceded just once all season in Serie A – from the penalty spot – the Nerazzurri created chances at will and were good value for their goal haul.

Moreover, it is not exactly as though Juventus have been free-scoring this campaign.

But the Bianconeri kept finding a way through just like Inter.

It was not a match in which either side’s defense exactly covered themselves in glory. And in the end, the 4-4 scoreline feels just about right for the match.

Inter Coach Inzaghi: ‘When You Concede Four Goals Vs Juventus, You Don’t Win’

After the match, Inter coach Inzaghi broke down his team’s defensive issues.

“If you score four goals against Juventus you can’t concede just as many,” he rued.

“There’s a series of factors,” the Nerazzurri coach continued. “Clearly, there’s a sense of determination that needs to be higher.”

“But we also would have deserved to score seven or eight goals against a team that had only conceded once in eight matches before.”

“We need to be clear-headed and rational,” Inzaghi argued. “And we have to analyze what mwe’re doing when out of possession that needs to be better.”

“You can concede shots. But you can’t concede four shots from four shots on target.”

“And then we could’ve scored the fifth, because we had sensational opportunities,” Inzaghi said.

“We weren’t clinical. And then Di Gregorio was very good in goal.”

“After that we started to show some nervous. And that’s football.”

“It will be a great lesson for us to take from this,” the Inter coach said.
