Simone Inzaghi believes Inter Milan couldn’t have reached their second Champions League final in three years without a massive team effort.

Speaking to UEFA.com via FCInterNews, the 49-year-old hailed his team for an incredible European season.

Although Inter are on the verge of losing their Serie A title to Napoli, they could make amends on the continental front.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri will meet Paris Saint-Germain in the most heavily anticipated fixture in the European schedule.

Simone Inzaghi will hope to go one better than in 2023 when Manchester City squeaked past his side in Istanbul.

Confidence comes from Inter’s outstanding semi-final performance against newly-crowned La Liga champions Barcelona.

Lautaro Martinez, one of the architects of that triumph, will likely be at Inzaghi’s disposal in Munich.

Despite struggling with an injury after the semi-final second leg, El Toro is close to regaining full fitness.

His recovery will significantly bolster Inter’s quest to win a fourth Champions League title.

“It’s been a long journey to reach the final,” Inzaghi started. “We took it step by step.

“Everyone remembers the last two legs against Barcelona.

“But even beating Bayern was incredibly difficult because they’re such a great team, organized, and physical.

“The quarter-finals were as intense as the semi-finals. Those were four games of incredible intensity.

“We’ve had an outstanding journey over the past few years.

“Reaching two Champions League finals is the result of everyone’s hard work and sacrifice.”

Then, Inzaghi recalled Inter’s heartbreaking defeat in the Istanbul showpiece.

“We all remember that final very well as we played on equal footing against a very strong Manchester City side.

“We probably deserved to take that game to extra time, but that performance gave us great confidence in our abilities.”

Finally, he admitted the age difference between PSG and Inter shouldn’t be a factor in the final.

“I don’t think being a slightly older team is a problem. In fact, it really helps in certain moments of big matches.

“I have a group of excellent footballers, but above all, great men who always work in the best way and try to stay composed.

“Winning would be the crowning achievement of the incredible work we started four years ago.

“It’s a hugely important final. We want to give our fans this great joy, and we’ll give everything we’ve got to make it happen.”
