Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is finding himself “in the firing squad” as the external pressure starts to mount.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Inzaghi will certainly be used to pressure.

Aged 48. Inzaghi has now been coaching at a high level in Serie A for nearly a decade.

Five seasons in charge of Lazio gave the coach a chance to start to adapt to the pressure of competing for trophies.

And since joining Inter in the summer of 2021, Inzaghi has had to deal with plenty of ups and downs.

The Nerazzurri now have the tag of favourites in Serie A, a blessing and a curse. And then there is the fact that they are no longer underdogs in the Champions League.

The pressure is just something Inzaghi has learned to live with every day.

But sometimes, external events can dial things up an extra notch.

Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi “In The Firing Squad” As External Pressure Mounts

The investigation by anti-mafia prosecutors into Inter ultras group the Curva Nord is something the club has largely managed to keep away from the pitch.

The alleged illegal activities of the ultras have had nothing to do with the team or the players.

However, that does not mean that Inzaghi has been completely unaffected.

The Inter coach recently testified about his interactions with the ultras.

And Inzaghi did admit that, when Inter reached the Champions League final in 2023, he conveyed a request for extra tickets to the match on behalf of the Nord.

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti aimed a dig at Inzaghi in comments on the matter.

This is an unwelcome distraction for the 48-year-old. Particularly at a time when Inter’s start to the season, while hardly disastrous, has not been ideal by any means.

Inzaghi is feeling the heat, above all, from Antonio Conte in Serie A.

Conte is the man that Inzaghi replaced as Inter coach. And the Nerazzurri’s current boss has only surpassed Conte’s work at Inter, and done so under tougher conditions.

But Conte’s return to Serie A as Napoli coach has given Inzaghi something to think about.

Inter will do their best to shield their coach from too much external pressure as the title race mounts. But for Inzaghi, it won’t be easy.
