As the January transfer window comes into view, Manchester City continues to be linked with a host of players. Midfielders appear to be the order of the day, as Pep Guardiola’s side does need fresh legs in midfield. But they could also do with another option up front. With that in mind is a West Ham star on Manchester City’s radar? A new report suggests that City could move for Mohammed Kudus next month.
Spanish publication Fichajes has reported that Manchester City are preparing to make a substantial offer for West Ham star Mohammed Kudus. Furthermore, the Fichajes report indicates that the Premier League champions are prepared to pay up to €80 million for the Ghanaian international. Lastly, the Fichajes report adds that while West Ham doesn’t want to sell Kudus, a substantial offer may see them part ways with one of their most important players in January.
Across Manchester City’s recent poor run of results, there has been a lack of creativity in City’s play. It has stood out in their past two defeats to Manchester United and Aston Villa. Although Pep Guardiola’s side have dominated possession and have had no real attacking threat. It is clear that on top of buying a midfielder and possibly another defender Manchester City would benefit from buying either another striker or a winger. That’s where Mohammed Kudus could prove to be a shrewd signing if City did make a move for the West Ham star.
Mohammad Kudus is a versatile player who is capable of the spectacular. You only have to remember his goal during City’s 3-1 win over West Ham on the final day of last season to see what is capable of. At times at West Ham Kudus has played on both wings. That is the type of player Manchester City need. With his pace and dribbling ability he would add a different element to City’s attack. He also has an eye for goal and a pass, although he can be inconsistent at times. But all told Kudus would be a quality addition to Manchester City’s squad.
It now remains to be seen if Manchester City do move for Mohammed Kudus next month. But as a player he would add something different to Pep Guardiola’s squad and if they could land him in January it would a massive signing.
