‘You would have noticed…’

Looking ahead to Sunday’s clash at Celtic Park, the midfielder expressed optimism about his chances of featuring in the derby. The Celtic captain said: “You (the media) would have noticed that I was not with the main group today.”

“I’m just trying to step it up – I did a bit of individual work with the physio guys today. Hopefully, I have no reaction and then I will be all good to train tomorrow. If I can train tomorrow, then I will be fit.”

When questioned about what his injury issue is, McGregor responded: “It’s a calf issue. The club are giving me every chance by leaving it as long as we can to be out on the pitch and ready.”

‘I’m doing everything I can to be available’

McGregor has been an instrumental figure for Celtic this season, featuring in 44 matches across all competitions for the reigning Scottish champions. Enjoying an impressive run of goalscoring form, the captain has netted on nine occasions from midfield, with several of his strikes coming from outside of the box.

In the previous encounter between the two sides in Glasgow’s east end, McGregor found the net with a memorable powerful long-range strike to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory in September.
