There is no doubt that Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are going through a tough spell. The results speak for themselves as they have only picked up one win in their past thirteen matches. But the Manchester City manager is a fighter and there is little doubt that he remains up for the fight. That was evident as Guardiola spoke after his team’s 1-all draw with Everton on Boxing Day.
Speaking after his team’s draw with Everton Pep Guardiola was in a defiant mood. He told the media: “I will not give up. I want to be here and do it. The situation we have, we have to do it. Now we go to Leicester, always have been difficult but now the players will be ready to do it.”
There is no doubt that Pep Guardiola is a fighter. He wouldn’t have reached the heights he has as a player and manager if he wasn’t. It is also clear that he is determined to lead his team out of their recent slide. The only way to do that is by picking up three points against Leicester City. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side will provide a tricky test for Manchester City but it’s one they must overcome today at the King Power Stadium.
But what is clear is that Pep Guardiola is up for the fight ahead. That shone through in his words. Now his players need to follow their managers lead. They must be up for the fight today as that is the only way out for their current run of results.
