‘It ruins his credibility’: Pundit reveals why Ruben Amorim must stick to his style despite Man United’s struggles – report

Manchester United have not fared well under manager Ruben Amorim, with the players struggling to adapt to his 3-4-2-1 formation.
The Red Devils’ woes were compounded yesterday when they lost to Fulham on penalties at Old Trafford in the FA Cup fifth round.
The result means that United’s only chance of winning silverware this season is to win the Europa League, in which they will face Real Sociedad in the round of 16.
United’s struggles under Amorim have led to suggestions that the Portuguese tactician needs to change his style to turn the tide around.
However, journalist Mark Ogden believes that Amorim has to stick with his tactical style despite United’s poor form.
He told ESPN FC: “If he goes to 4-3-3, 4-4-2 or whatever, and they start winning games, what happens in the summer when he wants to go back to three at the back because that is his system?
“It ruins his credibility, and it confuses the players.
“I suppose he has to stick with what he believes in. Otherwise, he will prove that he does not have the right system. I think he has to hold his nose until the end of the season and hope for the best.”
United have played different formations under previous managers, and the club’s fortunes have remained unchanged.
A change in Amorim’s style would not guarantee an improvement in the club’s form.
Amorim has to stick to his preferred formation and continue working on how the players will adapt and believe in his methods.
INEOS must support him in the summer by recruiting players suited to his preferred 3-4-2-1 formation and selling those who do not fit in.
