Francesco Totti, an undisputed legend of AS Roma who spent his entire professional career at the club, has shared his thoughts on the managerial future of his beloved team.
The former forward believes that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti would be the perfect candidate to take over the Roma bench this summer.
With current manager Claudio Ranieri expected to step down at the end of the season, the club has been exploring potential replacements, and Totti has no doubts about who would be the ideal choice.
The former Roma captain recently appeared on the Twitch programme Viva el Fútbol, where he was asked about his preferred candidate for the managerial position.
“Who would you like as coach of Roma to reach the fourth place or the Scudetto?,” asked Cassano, to which Totti said,
“If I had to say a coach, Rainieri is doing well now, but I don’t know if he will be given another chance next year.”
Pressed further on the matter, Totti did not hesitate to name Ancelotti as his dream choice, although he admitted that bringing him to Roma would be a difficult task.

“Ancelotti, but he won’t come. If I were the technical director, I would call him. Let’s say if I had to pick up the phone myself or anyone, if I did it would be different?”
According to Totti, the key to Ancelotti’s success is his ability to manage star players effectively.
“For me the coach is fundamental, he must be good at putting the players on the field. But for me, it must be the coach, it’s not easy to manage champions.
While the likelihood of him joining Roma is low, Totti remains convinced that he would be the perfect choice to take the club forward.
“Ancelotti is the best in the world at this, yes. If you talk to the players, they are all in love with him. There must be a reason for that,” he added.
