After being linked with a mid-season switch to Manchester United, Fabrizio Romano has rated the likelihood of Victor Osimhen leaving Galatasaray.

Of course, if a suitable offer arrives in Napoli’s inbox, they will get the final say as to whether the forward will see out the remainder of his season-long loan or return to Italy before being offloaded elsewhere.

Osimhen’s transfer debacle over the summer culminated with a big-money Saudi Arabian transfer falling through before he departed for the Super Lig outfit at the beginning of September. He had already been stripped of his shirt number by Antonio Conte and exiled from the squad, leaving him no choice but to pursue a new venture elsewhere.

And that he did. He has since taken the Turkish league by storm, notching 10 goals and three assists in his first 12 appearances, as well as a further three goals and two assists in the first phase of the Europa League.

United could finally accelerate Osimhen pursuit with like-for-like swap

Such stellar form has caught the eye of United, who’ve long been linked with the prolific Nigerian talisman, though they’ve never taken the steps to try and materialise their interest.

That could all be about to change in the coming weeks, however, as recent reports have strongly suggested that INEOS chiefs will look to use the outcast Marcus Rashford in a potential swap deal for Osimhen, which would see United’s No.10 reunite with ex-teammate and fellow Carrington graduate Scott McTominay in Naples.

When pressed on the prospect of Osimhen’s loan being cut short, Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport: “In terms of chance to move, it’s possible. But at the moment, nothing is advanced or close with any club despite the links around. It’s still early for this one.”

What’s likely to put the prospective arrangement in jeopardy is AC Milan’s recent interest in Rashford, as Romano confirmed on Monday that the Serie A giants are among a host of clubs planning to open talks with United in hopes of adding the forward to their ranks.
