On Sky Sports, pundit Jamie Carragher noted that Brighton & Hove Albion standout Kaoru Mitoma reminds him of Kvaratskhelia, who Carragher saw eliminate his former club Liverpool.

“He’s just a class player,” Carragher said. “And I was thinking of the lad who moved to PSG—I’m going to try and pronounce his name [Kvaratskhelia]… But [Mitoma] looks that type of player; just the first touch kills the ball. I’m sure he’ll be involved later on. We’re looking at goal of the season as well for the one that he got—I think it was against Chelsea.

“It’s just, when you see him control a ball and the ball gets switched to a wide player, I don’t think there are many wide players in the Premier League whose first touch matches his. He definitely made a huge difference when he’d come in. He’s been a brilliant player for them for two or three years.”

Moreover, this comparison to the PSG standout bodes well for the Reds as they have reportedly long had an interest in Mitoma. It will be interesting to see whether this summer Liverpool decide to pull the trigger and secure the player.
