A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is the subject of mounting interest on the part of Juventus.
That’s according to Diario Sport, citing La Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.
Juventus, it is understood, have identified the signing of at least one new central defender as a priority for the January transfer window.
This comes after the Bianconeri saw both Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal condemned to long-term spells on the sidelines with respective ACL tears.
A shortlist of options has in turn been drawn up on the part of the Allianz Stadium hierarchy.
And the aforementioned Araújo, it is now claimed, sits at the very top.
As per Sport, Juve are ready to offer up a deal based around an initial loan, followed by a significant mandatory buyout clause in the summer.
And whilst such a formula may not appeal to Barcelona as of this moment, it could prove appealing in the not-so-distant future, with Araújo yet to commit to an extension ahead of the expiration of his contract at the Camp Nou next year.
