Lazio require Liverpool assistance for complicated Chiesa deal

Lazio are one of several Serie A sides interested in offering Federico Chiesa a return to Italy, but the Biancocelesti would require help from Liverpool if they were to pull off his signing during the summer transfer window.
Though Chiesa has not yet completed a full season at Anfield, he is expected to be made available for transfer in the summer as he has struggled to make an impact following his move from Juventus last year.
The former Italy international, who has not featured for the Nazionale since EURO 2024, has played just 25 minutes of Premier League action spread across three substitute appearances this season. 11 appearances across all competitions have totalled 397 minutes all told this term.

According to reports from lalaziosiamonoi.it (via The Laziali), Liverpool will look to move Chiesa on at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, and could be open to the idea of sending him out on loan with an option or obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €15m, which is what Liverpool paid to sign him from Juventus last summer.
Though Lazio would be prepared to discuss a potential loan deal for Chiesa, his salary makes the deal trick, according to Wednesday’s reports.

Chiesa is reportedly earning somewhere in the region of €7m per season on his current Liverpool contract, which would make him Lazio’s highest earner by a considerable distance.
For that reason, Lazio would need Liverpool to continue paying a portion of Chiesa’s wages if they were to sign him on loan in the summer.
