Rafael Leao was the match-winner for AC Milan as he got the second goal in a comeback victory over Como, and he praised the new coach Sergio Conceicao.
When Assane Diao laced in a low shot past Mike Maignan’s near post to put Como 1-0 up in the second half last night, it looked like being another damaging Serie A result. However, the Rossoneri got themselves on terms with Theo Hernandez’s record-breaking goal.
Just five minutes later, the comeback was complete thanks to Leao. Tammy Abraham provided a brilliant through ball that nestled between the two Como centre-backs allowing the winger to race through and lift the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper Butez.
At the end of the game Leao stopped in the mixed zone to give some comments to TeleLombardia and Rai Sport, which were relayed by MilanNews and have been translated below.
What is the importance of this victory?
“It was a team game, we all fought together until the end and even in difficult moments we never gave up. Even those who came in brought energy and so it becomes easier to win difficult games.”

Can this energy be carried over to the rest of the season?
“We were in a difficult moment and a new coach arrived who brought us what was missing before. Maybe before we didn’t go all the way to the end to put all our energy on the pitch and try to score goals at our best.
“We are very happy with what the coach is bringing: everyone tries to give their all and winning these games gives us a lot of strength.”
Was it a tough game?
“A tough match against a great opponent. We knew it was going to be difficult but we showed an important mentality. I was able to help the team and we fought together. We need to maintain this level, the coach wants to take us to the top with mentality and work.”
Are you aiming for fourth place?
“It can be done. We want the Champions League.”
