Rafael Leao doesn’t see himself leaving Milan in the summer despite a challenging season for him and the lingering uncertainty within the team, which will have a new sporting director and coach soon.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the star hasn’t taken well that Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceiçao benched him a few times, but he hasn’t pouted publicly. Rather, he matured because of the difficulties, becoming more of a leader.
Even though the buzz about Barcelona being interested occasionally re-emerges, only Saudi teams have tried to lure him away from Milan in recent windows. He never seriously considered them.
The mercurial attacker has bagged 7 goals in Serie A play this campaign, oddly never scoring at home. He has hit the net 4 more times in the other competitions and added 11 assists. Therefore, he’s been able to put up his usual numbers even though his significance has been questioned by the coaches a couple of times. He began as a sub on seven occasions domestically, which was something new to him.
The players’ postures are all well and good and positive regarding the health of the locker room in a very trying season. On the other hand, the higher-up might impose one or two big sales to balance the books without the Champions League. Somebody of note will have to go. Plus, at some point, they might realize that partying ways with core but inherently inconsistent players is the easiest, if not the only, way to drastically change the makeup of the team.
