Leicester City are interested in signing Russell Martin and view him as a proven manager who may deliver them the Championship League title again.
Admit it or not, Southampton's ongoing struggle has seen a fraction of the St. Mary's faithful going unpassionate. In fact, some have started to drift, understandably, as frustrations mount.
Now, considering this, don't you think Southampton should be thankful to Leicester at least? After all, be it in the Premier League or the Championship, the club has moved parallel to the Saints in the last 3 years.
Even now, Leicester sit just above Southampton, both circling the same fate by season’s end. Well, that's truly commendable support now.
But, hey, doesn't such loyalty feel surprising from the cunning Foxes? It is, and now we know how. Interestingly, Leicester now seem keen to turn this shared journey into a tactical advantage.
Now, in case you don't know, like Southampton, Leicester too are busy finding a new lead for their Championship season next. And guess what, who they might be eyeing for the role?
Surprisingly, and sadly, it's Southampton's ex-boss Russell Martin.
As per Football League World, Leicester see their future manager in Saints Championship promotion winner Russell Martin. Though only recently dismissed at St Mary’s, the Foxes believe the manager might help them reclaim the Championship title once again.
Sounds ironic, right? The man who influenced Southampton's Premier League return might be on the sidelines again but against them.
Still, that’s football, sometimes joyful, sometimes just plain cruel.
But, honestly, in this case, it might be just a bit awkward initially. After all, even though Leicester might strengthen their top-finish chances with Martin's appointment, none of them can forget he has been a Saints fired staff.
